A new course for parents-to-be is launching Burntwood.

The sessions are taking place at the Spark facility in the town and will be led by Burntwood mum of three Hazel Davies.

The FEDANT teacher said she was keen to give people access to affordable sessions following cutbacks in health visitor and antenatal services.

“After the cuts, the only options left were so expensive that they were out of reach to many women that I spoke to,” Hazel said.

“I created Bump to Baby Antenatal to help answer the questions that many of us have before and after giving birth for the first time.”

Each class, which covers everything from labour to relaxation techniques, and birth to early days, takes place at Spark on the first Tuesday evening in every month. The course lasts for four weeks, with a postnatal reunion session, and numbers are strictly limited.

Hazel added: “I believe in arming women and their partners with the facts and the most up-to-date information to empower them to make decisions about their birth experiences.”

Spark has been hosting informal monthly meet ups for prospective parents at Spark Bumps since January but there has been demand for a taught course.

Esther Allen, director of Spark said: “Hazel is known to many local mums through her volunteering at Baby Bistro breastfeeding group and Bumps group.

“It’s great she is now offering this additional service for parents-to-be in Burntwood.”
