Chasetown FC saw all three points slip out of their grasp as they were denied victory late on by Kidgrove Athletic.

The Scholars made a positive start as Jordan Flattley rattled the crossbar from 25 yards with Dave Parton beaten inside the first two minutes.

The visitors then had a goal harshly disallowed when Jake Lovatt outmuscled the defender and fired home, only for the referee to adjudge a foul had been committed.

On the stroke of half time Kidsgrove almost snatched an undeserved lead with a cheeky back heel from Tim Sanders which was blocked on the line by Curtis Pond.

Eventually The Scholars’ patience paid off and Muzzy Nduna volleyed Chasetown ahead from a right wing free kick just after the hour mark.

Chasetown should have extended the lead in the 70th minute. George Cater robbed the back four and fed Grant Ryan. He unselfishly teed up Will Whieldon who fired inches wide of the upright.

Kidsgrove levelled the score late on against the run of play with a long range effort from Lee Cropper that flew in off the post.
