Lichfield City FC endured a frustrating afternoon as they were beaten 3-1 by Bolehall Swifts.

Playing at their opponents’ Rene Road ground as a home fixture due to work on City’s new 3G pitch, Dave Langston’s men were defeated for the first time this season.

Bolehall struck first with an effort tucked nearly under keeper Adam Hill.

Lichfield had a feeling it might not be their day after striking the woodwork on a number of occasions in the opening period.

City almost found a leveller when a Jordan Evans cross was turned goalwards by a Swifts defender, only for the keeper to prevent an own goal.

Evans was proving to be a handful for Bolehall and it was another of his deliveries that finally gave City a route back into the game as his ball from the right eluded everyone before finding the net.

Sub Craig Marshall fired wide after the interval as Lichfield looked to complete a turnaround of the scoreline.

But it was Bolehall who would strike next as a long throw was headed home.

Things got even worse for City shortly afterwards as the deficit was doubled after Swifts spring the offside trap.

Lichfield pushed once more in the last 20 minutes as they attempted to salvage something from the game, but again saw the woodwork deny them as the fixture finished 3-1.
