  4. Phil, when you are doing the twitter feeds please keep in mind that we don’t need to know when you have eaten too much or are tired because you have had a busy day. We only need to know things apropos Lichfield.

  5. Phil, thank you for pointing out via FaceBook that it is Ross who twits the tweets for Lichfield Blog …
Ross, why do you use the Lichfield Blog twitter account to tell us of your own doings. For instance, last night, complaining about the fireworks and using swear words The news twits are very good and informative but Lichfield Blog is not a person and it does not need personifying. I’m surprised your bosses allow it. IMHO

  6. Hi Dinah, sorry the content of our Twitter feed upsets you, but I’m not too sure what you’re getting at re: the swearing – I can’t see anything offensive in them. I complained about the fireworks because they are an issue. The Twitter account was created by me and is used by me. It’s not designed to just churn out links to our stories (although it does that), it’s designed to be part of the online community – and always has been. I’ll agree with you though, I’m not sure why the bosses allow it… ;o)

  7. I just checked the twitter account – and wiki for the term ‘bloody’.
According to wiki it is considered by most to be a very mild form of expletive with the expection of the most sever critics.
Personally i wouldn’t have noticed ‘bloody’ and tend to watch my effing and blinding when i write or speak amongst ‘polite society’. After 4 or 5 pints theres little hope for me.

  8. I’m beginning to see how this is working now. The blog website and the news feeds are most efficient and seems to be very authoritative, so I couldn’t understand why the twitter tweets were coming from what appeared to be a regular person. I actually thought that the Blog was authorised/instigated by something like the Council or some other similar organisation, in which case I felt that unnecessary language, ie. interjections like ‘bloody’, albeit mild, was tainting the beauty of the blog, and didn’t uphold the Blog’s professional air. Anyway, thanks.

  9. I agree with Dinahs points there – Lichfieldblogs getting quite a good internet presence(very much with an official recognition/approval) – if people start coming here regulalry as a point of local information (and also tourists) – even mild expletives could become innapropriate – i’d be amused rather than shocked if a bbc news reader used the term ‘bloody’ but i’d agree its unacceptable in such situations.

  10. As with most decisions relating to this site, we’ve put the ‘what shall we do with the Twitter account?’ question out to the masses to see if it should only be used for links to articles or whether it should retain a proactive role in Lichfield’s online community.

I’ll report back in due course.

  11. Happy belated birthday!! What a fantastic resource for Lichfield. You should be very, very, proud of this blog.

Anyway, I was wondering if you knew anything about the shugborough cipher?

Apparently someone in Scotland has just solved it! Is this true?

    Keep up the good work.

    Danny
