About us

Welcome to LichfieldLive, home to all things Cathedral city since January 2009.

The site – originally known as The Lichfield Blog – has gone through a rollercoaster of a ride but we’re now settled into our corner of the internet.

The site is not a vehicle to make money for anyone (no-one has ever taken a payment from the site) and any revenue we generate goes into covering costs such as hosting as well as investing in equipment to support the work our contributors do. We also won’t take advertising from companies and organisations who don’t have a local link.  So please, if you enjoy reading the site, do try to support our advertisers if you possibly can.

On the subject of contributors, we are absolutely indebted to them for their support over the years (and in the future too!) – but we’re always looking out for more people to get involved, so make sure you get in touch if you have something to say or if you think your community group or organisations deserves to be heard about. It doesn’t matter if writing isn’t your thing – we’ll work with you to get the best coverage possible.

Right from the very beginning, the site has been about providing a service for people across Lichfield and Burntwood. As a result we don’t always subscribe to the idea that it’s all about news – there’s also a focus on providing interesting and informative content.

We’ve got plenty of plans going forward to improve the site and help empower the wider community to join in the fun we’re having – so keep your eyes peeled to see what we’re up to next.

In the meantime, jump on board, have a look around and comment – but please, no kicking, scratching or hair-pulling!

And if you need to contact the site or fancy contributing anything at all you can email us via or by visiting our Twitter page.

A volunteer wrote this. Say thanks with a coffee.

    Hi Tony,

Thanks for the message. Not sure how much we’ll keep you updated, but if you want to know what’s getting up our noses then this probably is the place to come!

Goa sounds good fun, although I’m sure it wouldn’t compare to a week around Stowe Pool with that strange Turkey-duck thing that lives there.

Enjoyed finding out about your successful project at the Jee conference. This is just what my community needs – and will get – as I follow in your footsteps. Kate

Hi. Just found this site, I was born in Lichfield (Sanford Street) in 1952. Have you ever thought of adding a where are you now link? I would love to find some of my old school friends. We were the last pupils of the old Central school and the first pupils of Netherstowe. Great site!

Hi Tony – glad you’ve found us!

We’re always looking for suggestions and ideas, so we’ll add this one to the pot and see if we can do something with it.

    Hope you enjoy the site.

I have just received a parking charge from Aldi even though I did some shopping there, for apparently overstaying my allotted time by 15 mins.2 points : firstly, any notices of time/charge for parking are indistinct(compared with Tesco next door for example),secondly what about the skateboarders who have virtually taken over the top end of the car park?Would I be in a position to sue Aldi if my car were to be damaged?
Not surprisingly I will be taking my custom elsewhere & have let their “management” know accordingly.

    Thanks Jo!

I certainly can’t believe it’s been a year. No cake sadly, just a nice badge at the top of the site!

Who’d have thought I’d be doing this post BPM?!

I have inherited a pocket watch that was presented to Police Constable K14 Martin 26043 on recognition of 16 years service on 1898.
I was told he was a relative of mine by my late father but know nothing more.  I live in Felixstowe.
I wonder if you could post a ‘wanted’ on your site for information or if you knew of anyone who might help with information.
