Good news for you film fans as Lichfield is set to get a film festival…and why not!

The announcement was made alongside the confirmation that movie expert Barry Norman is coming back to the Lichfield Garrick.

As part of his visit on July 3, Barry will announce the launch of the Inspire Film Festival, which will feature entries from up and coming filmmakers from across the country and culminating in the presentation of awards in numerous categories to the producers/directors of the best submissions.

Speaking about the event which is run by South Stafffordshire College students in conjunction with the Garrick, Richard Hawley, Director of the Lichfield Festival said on his blog:

“The idea of a film festival in a city without a cinema was just too good to be true. So bravo to the Garrick Theatre who are starting the Inspire Film Festival in Lichfield.”

The festival will be a fitting accompaniment to the Barry Norman – Film Favourites event, where he’ll be discussing great stories of the rich and famous film actors and their antics both on and off screen.

For more information about the event, visit the Inspire Film Festival web site.
