The appeal has been made by Lichfield District Council’s park rangers who are hoping to encourage more wildlife to the area by holding the spring clean from 10.30am to 3pm on March 28.

Park ranger Rob Taylor said:

“We want to create a fantastic woodland to encourage more wildlife to the area, and make it easier for park visitors to find their way through the woodland. This is why we need volunteers to help us tidy up the path and create a pond. We hope the pond will teem with life and so children can have a go at pond-dipping in the summer to find out exactly what lies beneath!”

Places at the event are limited, but can be booked by calling 01543 308867 or by emailing Those booked in can then join the fun at 10.30am at the golf hut in Beacon Park. Participants are urged to wear suitable outdoor clothes and remember to bring a packed lunch. The rangers will provide gloves, tools and expert guidance.
