Lichfield’s new parking wardens have ticketed nearly 150 vehicles since April 1.

Despite criticism that the wardens are too city centre focused, the new figures reveal that drivers are being punished for poor parking in the District.

Lichfield District Council’s figures showed that 148 drivers have received tickets from the APCOA wardens between April 1 and April 8.

The arrival of the wardens has been designed to improve the way in which the problem of bad parking is tackled and ease the pressure on police to deal with such offences.

However, the changes have been criticised after vehicles were photographed parking illegally around the corner from Lichfield’s main police station.

The Lichfield Blog has even produced an APCOA map to plot sightings of the warden to find out whether or not they are venturing beyond the city centre in search of problematic parking.

Easter Sunday, loads of people at church, guess where I have just spotted a traffic warden booking a car.
Right outside the church by Tesco Express.
