Three people have escaped following a house fire in Whttington.
Lichfield fire crews attended the fire on Chester Road as well as crews from Tamworth on Burton-on-Trent after a call was received at 12.30am this morning.
Station Manager, Phil Smith said:
“Upon arrival crews were faced with a severe fire in the living room of the property. Flames from the fire quickly spread from the ground floor window and up the side of the property into the roof space. Firefighters used the ariel ladder platform to tackle the fire from above.
“Three people were reported to be inside of the building at the time of the incident, however after calling 999 they made their way out of the property.”
The fire caused extensive damage to the ground floor and roof space of the property and smoke damage to the whole of the property.
Fire Investigation Officers are returning to the scene this morning where they will be carrying out a fire investigation to establish the cause of the incident.
Crews remained at the scene overnight to ensure there were no remaining hot spots.
