The best of Lichfield and the Shugborough Estate will be on show as part of a new tour in the city.

A Tale of Two Lichfields will examine two of Staffordshire’s finest treasures on Saturday (May 2).

The tour starts at 10.30am with refreshments in the delightful Cathedral Coffee Shop in Lichfield. Then it’s on to a fascinating walking tour of the historic town centre led by a Green Badge Guide. The tour will include spell-binding tales of Lichfield’s colourful and surprising past.

Following the town centre tour, visitors will make their way to the complete working historic estate of Shugborough, ancestral home to the Earls of Lichfield. Once at Shugborough, an elegant lunch of delicate sandwiches and cakes served on three-tiered platters will be served.

Participants will then have time to take in the new Patrick Lichfield exhibition, Fame, Fashion and Fast Cars and wander around the mansion house’s breath-taking rooms filled with some of the finest treasures in the country.

There is also the opportunity for visitors to take in the working servants’ quarters, working farm and 900 acres of breathtaking parkland and Grade One listed riverside gardens.

The tour – which costs £14.75 per person for the full day including lunch and refreshments – be booked via the Shugborough Sales and Promotions team on 01889 881 388.
