Starting on May 20 and running for eight weeks, the free childcare course offers an introduction to looking after children. The level one syllabus covers child development, how children learn, the importance of play, careers in childcare and health and safety.

Jennie Crosby, Lichfield District Council’s Community Development Manager, said:

“This is a really great opportunity for local people to get a qualification in childcare for free. This starter course progresses to level two, and is a great way to kick off a career in childcare. I would like to thank all of our partners who have come together to offer this fabulous opportunity –  including Lichfield District Council, South Staffordshire College, North Lichfield Initiative, North Lichfield Community and Learning Partnership.”

Taking place at Curborough Community Centre, Reynolds Close on Wednesday mornings from 9.30am to 11.30am, the course is open to everyone aged over 16 years. There will also be a free creche at the community centre for participants with children.

To enrol on the course please call South Staffordshire College on 01827 304433 and to book the free crèche, please call Jozone on 07966 282431.
