Lichfield singer Shaun Smith believes he can win Britain’s Got Talent – even if the bookmakers don’t.

Despite winning a huge fan club with his renditions of Bill Withers’ Ain’t No Sunshine and U2’s With Or Without You, the teenager has seen his odds widen in the betting for the TV talent show.

At one stage Shaun was second favourite to win the show, but Paddy Power have now pushed his odds out to 20/1, a price matched by SkyBet. If you really fancy a flutter on the Lichfield lad to upset the odds, the 33/1 being offered by BetFred is looking like a particularly good price.

It would seem the bookies still believe red-hot favourite Susan Boyle will sing her way to the title, while Shaheen Jafargoli, Aidan Davis, Flawless, Stavros Flatley and Diversity are all ahead of him in the Paddy Power odds.

But speaking to The Mirror, Shaun admitted that he believes there is no clear favourite. He said:

“Anyone could win. I’ve met Susan and she’s lovely. But I think we’re all on a level playing field going into the final. It’s wide open. If nothing else comes of this it’s been a brilliant experience – the best of my life.”

  1. Upper Longdon will be voting as many times as possible. Celebrations in the Chetwynd Arms whichever way the vote goes. Shaun has done amazingly well to get to the final, anything else is a bonus.
