Real ale lovers will have another watering hole to choose from in Lichfield when the Shoulder of Mutton reopens.
The London Road pub is currently closed as the pub is remodelled ready for re-opening under the Tasty Pub Company brand.
As well as a new focus on locally-brewed traditional cask ales, the Shoulder of Mutton will also offer British food with a mediterranean twist.
The pub will reopen to the public on June 24 with invited guests enjoying a launch party on the previous evening.
New manager Jonathon Strickland told The Lichfield Blog:
“As you people may have already seen there are extensive works being undertaken and the total refurbishment time will be around eight weeks from start to finish. We will be training an already very experienced team for our first day of trading to the public on June 24.
“Our guests can expect a warm welcome from a vibrant and passionate hand-picked team. The pub will have a comfortable feel with a contemporary edge. This will be apparent throughout the whole experience.
“Drinks will see a dynamic cocktail selection, an Italian influenced wine list, fresh juices, continental draught beers and by bottle, as well as locally sourced cider and lager. But most importantly to us, locally-brewed traditional cask ales will be available all year round and of the highest standard.”
And Jonathon added that the food will more than match the quality of drinks on offer. He said:
“The food will use local produce cooked to perfection by Head Chef Andy Aston and his brigade. The menu will be adapted daily, but our opening menu will include British classics and with a Mediterranean twist. All our food will be delivered on a daily basis, so it will be as fresh as possible.”
