Aston Wood Golf Club is celebrating raising money to help boost the BBC WM Kidney Kids Appeal. The campaign is aiming to raise £1.5 million to pay for a brand new, state of the art kidney unit at Birmingham Children’s Hospital.

The event at Aston Wood, near Shenstone, was attended by comedian Jasper Carrott, rock drummer Bev Bevan, comedian Sludge Lees, and former boxing champion Pat Cowdell.

Birmingham Children’s Hospital received £7,500 towards the new unit with the other £3,500 going to the Holly Trust, a bowel cancer charity and chosen charity of Aston Wood’s lady captain, Shirley Ward.

That’s a great aim 1.5million. I hope they make it. For a very good cause. I have problems with my kidneys too so it’s something that hits home.
