Chance for Lichfield residents to get cut price cavity wall and loft insulation

greenhouseLichfield residents could be eligible for free or reduced cost cavity wall and loft insulation thanks to a new grant.

The Warmer Homes, Greener District initiative will see canvassers will be taking to streets at the end of June to tell people what they could be entitled to.

With the current economic climate in mind, the Lichfield District Council – which is behind the scheme – is keen to tell local people how they could become more energy efficient and keep their bills down.

Homeowners could even get a grant for heating if their system is broken and beyond repair.

Householders who meet grant criteria can get this energy saving work done for free, and there are big discounts available for everyone else in the district.

Cllr Ben Adams

Councillor Ben Adams, Cabinet Member for Community, Housing and Health, said:

“It seems strange to think about heating your homes in the summer, but last winter caught a lot of us off guard because it was much colder than usual. To make sure you are snug this coming winter, insulate your home in good time. The Warmer Homes, Greener District grant is a great offer, and could help you to get a huge reduction in the cost of installing cavity wall or loft insulation, or even get it done for free. So, get ahead of the rest, and sign up for it now.”

All the canvassers will be carrying two forms of photo identification, and these will have a verification number printed on them. To double check the canvasser is who they say they are, all householders need to do is call Lichfield District Council on 01543 308000 and tell the Lichfield Connects team the verification number.
