School pupils were special guests at a special flag raising ceremony in Lichfield to mark the first British Armed Forces Day.
As part of the event at Lichfield District Council the children from Little Aston Primary School and Rocklands School were shown the Council Chamber, and then assembled outside on the lawn to watch the Chairman hoist the Armed Forces Day Union Flag.
Cllr Joseph Powell, Chairman of Lichfield District Council, said:
“It was a great honour to raise the special Union Flag in tribute to the brave men and women who serve in the armed forces. Councils up and down the country have also been raising their flags, and it is wonderful to be a part of a national celebration of our armed forces.”
British Armed Forces Day takes place on June 27.
