Call for gardeners to enter Burntwood in Bloom

Green-fingered Burntwood residents are being urged to put their gardens forward for a local competition.

Burntwood in Bloom is being run for the second year running by the Town Council.

Nominations are being sought in the following categories:

  • Best commercial premises (retail)
  • Best commercial premises (industrial)
  • Best dressed shop or office window
  • Best front garden (Sponsored by HomeZone Living)
  • Best rear garden (Sponsored by Staffordshire Police)
  • Best container or trough
  • Best hanging basket
  • Best community project or premises (sponsored by Lichfield District Council)

Cash prizes of up to £100 are available for the winners. Entry forms are available from the Town Council offices on Bridge Cross Road or can be downloaded online.

The closing date for entries is 12 noon on July 3. Town Councillors Bernard Brown, Anthony Everall and Maureen Holt will judge the contest alongside guest judge Diana Muir, co-owner of the Plant Plot garden centre in Lichfield.

    There’s a gorgeous commercial garden around a bridal shop near me. It has a side that’s all white flowers, then on the other side there is a beautiful burst of colour, all different types of flowers. It’s a shame because I don’t think they enter any competitions.
