Two members of staff at Lichfield District Council have taken a leap of faith to raise money for a colleague’s son.

Tom Morrison and Adele Tilford, Revenues Officers at the Council, took to the skies to do a sponsored skydive on June 24.

The high-flying pair have been raising money for their colleague Isabelle Canavan’s six-year-old son, Jude, who is ill with an inoperable brain tumour.

After suffering a stroke and four operations, specialists told Isabelle Jude might not live for more than eight weeks. Six months later, and with weekly chemotherapy, Jude can use his left side again and only needs a wheelchair when he is tired – so the family is remaining positive.

Tom and Adele said of their fundraising skydive:

“It was an amazing experience but it won’t be one we’ll be repeating! We’ve been overwhelmed with the response, donations, and good wishes from everyone. So far we’ve raised £3,250. If anyone would like make a donation, please visit and give whatever you can. We paid for the dive ourselves, so all of the money will go straight to the Make a Wish Foundation.”

Some of the funds raised will help Jude take the trip of a lifetime.

Mum Isabelle explained:

“Jude has always wanted to go to Disneyland Paris, and we’re so grateful to Tom and Adele, and everyone who has sponsored them, for making his wish come true through the Make a Wish Foundation. He is really excited about meeting his favourite characters Rory the Racing Car and Jack Sparrow, and I can’t wait to see his face when we get there.”

On top of the sponsored sky dive, Lichfield District Council’s Customer Services Team – Lichfield Connects – has also been raising money for Jude. The team was inundated with prizes donated by council staff for a raffle, and raised more than £700.
