Chasetown FC kick off their pre-season campaign with a trip to Congleton Town.

Charlie Blakemore

Charlie Blakemore’s men face the North West Counties League Premier Division side at 3pm on Saturday.

The Scholars boss has been busy revamping his side after the heartbreak of their play-off final defeat last season.

Midfielders Lee Greenway and Danny Bragoli, wing-back Craig Milligan and target man Craig Marshall joins former Aston Villa youngster Darren Middleton at the club.

Congleton will also be buoyed by a raft of new signings, including Nantwich Town striker Andy Kinsey.

The match will be a stern test for Blakemore’s new-look side but, as he told the Chasetown FC website, he is keen for his players to hit the ground running. He explained:

“I always believe in a tough pre-season to provide the lads with a good base of fitness and then plenty of games to help work on method and get the players match fit.”

Next up for Chasetown after the Congleton clash will be an away trip to Meir KA for a 3pm kick-off on July 7.
