Families in Lichfield and Burntwood are invited to enjoy a day out with a difference – a tour of their local police station.

The stations are playing host to the first in a series of special open days which are happening this summer at police stations across the area.

The open day at Lichfield police station in Frog Lane is on July 12 starting at 11am and running until 4pm.

At Burntwood, people will be able to visit their local police station in High Street, Chasetown on July 25 between 11am and 4pm.

Visitors will be able to sit in the driving seat of a police car and have their fingerprints taken as part of a tour of the police cells at Lichfield. However, police officers have promise to release them without charge!

They can also try their hand at using a walkie-talkie radio and meet a police drugs dog during the free event.

Inspector Trevor Steventon, Commander of Lichfield Neighbourhood Policing Unit and Inspector Kevin Mulligan, Commander at Burntwood said:

“The open days give local people a chance to see what goes on, day to day, at their neighbourhood police station. We are often asked if people can have a look around and this is a great opportunity for them to do that and meet their local neighbourhood officers.”
