Downpours failed to dampen the spirits at a Buckingham Palace garden party recently for a Lichfield couple.
Thankfully Maple Hayes Dyslexia School principal Dr Neville Brown and his wife Brenda had prepared for a British summer day with a large umbrella at the recent event!
Mrs Brown is Bursar of Maple Hayes School and a former teacher. She said:
“It was a great afternoon, despite the weather. There was a tremendous downpour which left everyone dashing for cover and even some gallant gentlemen carrying ladies over some of the very large puddles that had quickly formed. I do hope not too many outfits were ruined. Everyone had gone to such a lot of effort to look nice. We did see Her Majesty, although her tour of guests was cut short by the weather.
“Perhaps it’s the experience of so many school trips over the years that make you prepare for every eventuality, but there was no way I was going to the palace without a substantial brolly.”
