The annual Swinfen Broun Challenge Trophy bowls match took place last week (Wednesday 8th July) in a show of good weather.

Lichfield’s Mayor, Councillour Terry Thomas, captained the Lichfield City Council team who went head to head with the Musuem Bowling Club. The City Council team, which also included the Sheriff of Lichfield, Mr Simon Price, bowled well and fought hard before finally being defeated 97 to 116.

A supper and presentation of the trophy was then held in the pavilion. Mr Roland Cope, Chairman of the Bowls Club made a speech in which he mentioned that next year’s supper will be held in the new pavilion. The Mayor then gave his good wishes for the forthcoming refurbishment and thanked the club for hosting the event.

The Museum Bowling Club are also keen to recruit new members and would like anyone interested to contact the Secretary, Mrs Barbara Currier on 01543 411 760.
