A visitor learns the art of being a stone mason

If you’ve ever wondered how Lichfield Cathedral was built then a new event will explain all.

Visitors can learn the art of traditional stone masonry through the Cathedral’s Have A Go experience.

The Lichfield Inspires’ stone masons (from Midland Conservation Ltd) will be giving one-to-one instruction to show how traditions have changed through the ages.

Jason Graham of Midland Conservation Ltd said:

“In our experience these events are both enjoyable and inspiring and we genuinely urge those with an interest to Have A Go.”

The experiences take place on August 4, September 3 and October 8. Each experience lasts one hour.

Tickets cost £10 per person and bookings can be made at at the Cathedral Shop (no. 9 The Close, Lichfield or telephone 01543 306150).

Please note that only adults over 17 are able to participate in this event and casual clothes must be worn. Health and safety equipment will be provided by Midland Conservation Ltd.
