Sponsors have been coming forward keen to back this year’s free Lichfield Proms in the Park.

Companies, organisations, councils and a charitable trust are among the sponsors for the event organised by Lichfield District Council on Beacon Park on Saturday September 5.

This is the 11th free Proms and will feature the British Police Symphony Orchestra, Lichfield Operatic Society, voices-in-harmony group Bella Musica! and soloists Deborah and Paul Roberts and Jo MacAllister.

Compere for the evening will be well-known Lichfield actor and the city’s new Town Crier, Ken Knowles and there will be a spectacular firework finale.

Among those who came together for a special photocall this week were Alan Birch from the Swinfen Brown Charitable Trust, Jan Goodwin and Brian Todd of Shakespeare in the Park, vice chairman of Lichfield District Council Councillor Barry Diggle who is also chairman of Swinfen Broun Charitable Trust, Jo Bailey of Diamond Edge Events Ltd, the Mayor and Mayoress of Lichfield Cllr Terry Thomas and Mrs Penny Thomas Park and Mike Malpass representing Chase Ices. Other sponsors include Lichfield District Council, County Councillors Terry Finn, Janet Eagland, Alan White and Steve Tranter  through their Staffordshire Local Community Fund, Britannia Bathrooms,  Secret Garden floral designers and Moseleys.

Beth Osman, Heritage Parks Manager, said:

“Proms in the Park is the highlight of the summer and is attended by thousands of local people and visitors. Sponsoring Proms is a great way to be a part of this wonderful event, and is also a chance to promote your business to thousands of people. We are so grateful to everyone who supports proms, and would like to thank them for helping us to make our eleventh proms the best yet.”

Organisers have also planned a hog roast and pancake stall and the youngsters will be catered for prior to the concert with free activities from 6pm arranged by the council’s leisure services.

More sponsors are still needed. Anyone who would like to help support this major free event for the community should contact 01543 308869, or visit for more details.
