Lichfield City FC manager Dean Gilbert has admitted he has already decided on his 15-man first team squad – but is keeping the names to himself for the time being.
Gilbert and assistant Andy McRobbie have tweaked with the squad during the close season and brought in three new faces this week alone.
And now he believes he knows his strongest side ahead of the start of the league season, even if he isn’t prepared to share it just yet.
But Gilbert told the Lichfield City FC website that first team regulars from last season could face the chop. He said:
“After a long pre-season of training and friendlies which gave Andy and myself lots of opportunity to play around with formations and try a number of players, we have finally compiled a list of 15 players that we feel will be stong enough for now to cope with the new seasons challenges that await us.
“Unfortunately for some of last season’s regulars, holidays and illness have hampered there appearances and that has made us push them to the reserves to get match fit before coming back into the first team reckoning. But that’s what having a reserve side is for.”
Lichfield City’s first league game seems them entertain Cadbury Athletic Reserves on August 29.
