The family of a Lichfield man who was killed after being hit by a train at a level crossing has said the family are “overwhelmed” by the messages of support from his friends.

Stuart Turner died on March 20 on a level crossing at Barlaston.

Friends paid tribute to the former Nether Stowe student on social networking site Facebook and hundreds turned up to say a final farwell at his funeral in Trentham.

His family have now spoken out to thank well-wishers for their messages of support following Stuart’s death.

A letter from his family said:

“All of us have been totally overwhelmed by the warmth and kindness you have shown to us in our time of great sorrow for the loss of our beloved son and brother. The incredible number of messages of love and respect that you have left on Facebook, and the many vistors who have left messages and flowers at the grave at Trentham, has been truly amazing. It has left us all with a very warm feeling that he has held in such esteem by so many people.

“Thank you all so very much. He will continue to live in our hearts forever and he will never be forgotten.”

A volunteer wrote this. Say thanks with a coffee.
