carparksignA number of  parking tickets given to drivers in Lichfield have had to be cancelled after a warden was found to be issuing them incorrectly.

Lichfield District Council admitted the error at the Shaw Lane car park at Beacon Park, where an APCOA warden had been issuing tickets outside of the charging period.

However, the council confirmed that drivers have received an apology and that all parking wardens had been reminded of the charging periods for the car park.

Ruth Plant, Director of Operational Services for Lichfield District Council, said:

“When we found out that one of the new parking attendants had mistakenly issued a few penalty notices outside of the charging period at Shaw Lane car park, we arranged for their immediate cancellation and made sure all our attendants were fully briefed on the charging times for our car parks.

“We have apologised to everyone that was ticketed by mistake, and we believe that there are no outstanding notices related to this issue. However, if anyone has still got a problem please do contact us on 01543 308999.”

APCOA wardens have already come under fire after a map of parking ticket hotspots in the Lichfield and Burntwood area, published by The Lichfield Blog, revealed certain notorious illegal parking areas were being overlooked.
