Music fans will be in for a treat when one of the region’s funkiest folk groups play two Lichfield gigs.
Having nearly brought down the marquee at Fuse, Wildfire Folk are set to perform on Lichfield’s Market Square as part of the Samuel Johnson Birthday celebrations on September 19 at 2.30pm.
That performance will be followed by a further appearance at Lichfield’s newest festival – Lichfield Folk and Roots – on October 3 at 4pm as part of the free Taste of Folk concert.
The group comprise young musicians from Lichfield and surrounding areas who under the tuition of top musicians from the Birmingham Conservatoire have quickly established themselves as a must-see group with their fresh, enthusiastic, vibrant, ively, funky approach to folk music.
Lichfield Arts Director Brian Pretty said:
“Lichfield Wildfire Folk have been funded by Lichfield Arts with support from Lichfield City Council and have made a great impact with both audiences and fellow musicians. We hope to continue the group but are looking for funding anyone who can help should contact Brian or Stuart on 01543-262223. Similarly if any young musicians are interested they can also contact Brian or Stuart.”
