Chasetown FC manager delighted by return to winning ways

Chasetown FC manager Charlie Blakemore has admitted he was “delighted” by the way his side bounced back from their FA Cup in the 7-1 win at Spalding United.

The Scholars’ penalty shoot-out defeat against AFC Wulfrunians was forgotten quickly as they smashed the Unibond League strugglers on Saturday.

And for Blakemore it merely reinforced the sense of togetherness he has in the dressing room.

The Chasetown boss told The Lichfield Blog:

“The Spalding win has lifted everybody. After Tuesday everyone was gutted, but we have to accept that our recent FA Cup runs have made us the team people want to beat in these early stages of the competition. I reminded all of the lads that the game has gone now and we have to look ahead at what we can achieve and we did exactly that against Spalding.

“We showed that ruthless streak and that little bit of extra resolve you need to bounce back from a disappointment. All of the players were outstanding.”
