The club was started or ‘Chartered’ in 1949, and amongst the guests at the September 11 event were 24 of the past Chairmen of the group, going as far back as 1965.

Guests were treated to a fire-breathing display on arrival and then settled down to watch five bouts of boxing, with youngsters from Stafford and Stone Police Amateur Boxing Clubs providing the entertainment.

Chairman of Lichfield Round Table, Stuart Milner said:

“It was a fantastic privilege to be joined by some many former Tablers to celebrate our 60th Charter. Over the last 60 years we have contributed to Lichfield by raising hundreds of thousands of pounds for local good causes and had a great time doing it. Most people are aware of us because they see Santa doing his rounds every Christmas, but we have a varied social calendar as well as raising money, and it’s a great way to get to know people and to do something different.”

Lichfield Round Table is open to males aged between 18-45, irrespective of religious beliefs or political opinion. Anyone interested in finding out more can call 0808 129 3616, email at [email protected] or visit www.lichfieldroundtable.co.uk.
