St Stephen's School in Fradley

A Fradley school is holding two events to celebrate the opening of their new school building.

The events take place on September 22, between 9am and 10.30am and 3pm and 4.30pm, at St Stephen’s School.

Parents and other residents are urged to come along and see for themselves what the new facility has to offer to Fradley’s children.

At the morning event, refreshments will be provided courtesy of The Friends of St Stephen’s, and at the afternoon event, by school cook Mrs Neesham.

The new building was erected to replace Fradley’s former Victorian schoolhouse, built in 1875 and demolished in 2008.

Those older residents who felt huge affection for the old schoolhouse, and who were saddened to see it go, have expressed relief that the new building does at least resemble the original one, with its pitched roof and bricks that blend in with the church, the RAF memorial and the Village Hall. It is also in a more convenient location and has a much better equipped interior than had the old building.

Parents attending the afternoon event will also be able to browse hundreds of the newest and best children’s books between 3.30–4.15 pm, as the Scholastic Book Fair starts at the school on the same day and will continue for the next three days.
