The season’s not quite over in the Lichfield City Sunday Darts League, but it may as well be as far as the top two places go.

In the doubles and singles it is Fountain first and Whirlwinds runners up. Well done to both and especially to Fountain for retaining their champions credentials.

One final league match to be played this coming Sunday (Dr Johnson v Windmill) has been cancelled and the result given to the Windmill as the Dr Johnson can’t scrape a team together.

The following week it is the final of the Handicap Cup – Greyhound (501) v Windmill (701) after the two teams beat Cons Club & Bravehearts respectively last week. The final will be played at the Johnson on September 27.

That match-up is followed by the showpiece game of the year, the league cup final which will feature Fountain v Whirlwinds on October 4 at the Windmill.

We’ve had some 63 180’s to date – three short of the record with plenty of chances to overcome that mark yet.

Martin McAulay has hit a 170 finish and 14 180’s this season as well as a 13 dart leg. Heather Kishere has the highest Ladies finish to date (108). Sarah Parkes has the least darts in a leg for a lady player with 26 to date.

Good luck to all the finalists, it’s good to see Greyhound, who are bottom of the table playing Windmill (3rd) in the handicap final – it shows that the handicap is working.
