Chasetown FC manager Charlie Blakemore will send his troops out in the League Cup against Kidsgrove Athletic urging them to put their horror show against Mickleover Sports firmly behind them.

The Scholars entertain Kidsgrove Athletic this evening (7.45pm kick-off) keen to erase memories of the 3-0 defeat on Saturday.

But Blakemore has admitted that while Saturday’s humbling defeat was disappointing, it can be rectified.

He told the club’s website:

“The defeat did hurt the squad, but it showed them that we don’t have a divine right to win every time. We’re not hitting the panic button, and we’ll soon get the side back to winning ways.”

The Scholars boss could make changes to his side for this evening’s encounter in order to rest players in a squad already hit by injuries to key personnel.

Goalkeeper Ryan Price could be given the chance to reclaim his place in the starting line-up from Martin Taylor after coming through a reserve team run-out on Saturday, while loan striker Grant Ryan could also start.

For fans unable to get to the Scholars Ground this evening, Chasetown’s Twitter page will be offering the usual updates.
