Alrewas  and Fradley residents are being invited to take to the street to get to know their neighbourhood police officer.

PC David Griffiths, who covers the Fradley and Alrewas areas, will hold the open air street surgery in Main Street, Alrewas, on October 10 between 11am and 1pm.

He will be on-hand to answer any questions residents have and discuss local issues and concerns.

The event is part of on-going efforts by police in Trent Valley division to help people recognise and get to know their local neighbourhood officers.

People can get their neighbourhood officer’s name, telephone and e-mail details by visiting their local police station, calling the force on 0300 123 44 55 or by logging on to the local policing link on the homepage of the force’s website www.staffordshire.police.uk.

What a state we are in when we are told the police will condescend to meet the plebs at a given place/day/time!
Those were the days when we could look out the window and know one would be along shortly and he would look like a copper not some one 5 feet tall in high heels and 6 stone wringing wet – I joke about the wringing wet!
I do not see police near my home but equally important I do not see them in town – I tell a lie ,today my wife thought she noticed a little girl in what my wife thought was some sort of uniform but as the girl was shopping and we do not know what sort of uniform they wear today we are not sure.
We see they like to test drive high speed cars at well over the limit but what else do the police do?
We pay more each year for what?
If more crime is dealt with by organizations other than police and crime is genuinely down – why do we need more police?

Here is a constructive suggestion to Police Person.
Anti social behavior is very much to the fore at the moment. So lets keep up the momentum.
You ask the Chief Constable (are you allowed to speak to him or do you have to ask the sarg who asks the inspec who asks etc all in triplicate!) to get all the schools to have a meeting with all their own pupils and explain the harm that those who do behave badly can do to others. It used to be called assembly but not sure if they still have that!
If all the schools did it on the same day that would be even better.
Those pupils who are bunking off/truant/sick/absent without leave ,or whatever the PC words used today, to be told in person when they attend school.
All parents to be sent a suitably worded letter and asked to send a receipt acknowledging their responsibilities – no reply means a visit from the law .
If the copper does not know the way he can purchase an A- Z or, if he knows how, look on Google.
Together we can get rid of these people who will never contribute to a good society unless we show them they are not in charge.

I see today that a man who was arrested for defending himslf and his property has had the charge dropped but no mention of any action against the aleged culprits.
Is that how the police waste their time – arresting inocent people because the real trouble makers are too difficult?
