Police are appealing for witnesses after two people were killed in a road accident near Lichfield. The accident happened on the A38 near Bassetts Pole on September 26. The collision, between a blue Ford Focus and the green Robin Reliant, happened just before 5pm on the southbound carriageway. The woman passenger in the Robin Reliant was airlifted to Selly Oak Hospital in Birmingham but died shortly after. Her husband lost his fight for life last night. Police are currently carrying out enquiries to contact their relatives. The 76-year-old woman and her 79-year-old husband both came from Hendon, London. Anyone who witnessed the collision, or stopped to offer assistance, is asked to contact Lichfield police on 0300 123 4455, quoting reference 727 of 26 September.
