Chasetown FC Ladies 8 Ashbourne Ladies FC 3

Chasetown picked up the points despite struggling to field a team because of holidays, injuries and illness.

But this gave Sian Hurcombe the chance to make her debut and Heather Loynes to play her first full match of the season.

It was a terrible first half performance by Chasetown as they gave an inexperienced Ashbourne team every encouragement possible by missing chance after chance to score.

A spirited performance by the visitors was rewarded when they took the lead in the 25th minute.

But Chasetown hit back quickly through Sinead Treanor to go in level at half-time.

Against the wind, Chasetown played better in the second half. Within a few minutes of the restart good work down the right by Treanor was rewarded with a good cross and simple tap in at the far post by Sarah Thompson.

Ashbourne bounced back and scored again within two minutes to make it 2-2.

As the game wore on Chasetown’s pace began to tell and in the end Ashbourne could not cope with the Treanor as she went on to score six goals in total. Chasetown’s other goal was scored by Abi Picken.

Chasetown’s player of the match was Jodie Edwards but the overall player of the match must have been the Ashbourne goalkeeper, Sharon Bill, who had an outstanding game.

Chasetown Ladies are sponsored by Chasetown Supporter’s Club and Sue’s Cars.
