Lichfield groups and organisations are being reminded to apply for up to £1,000 in grants.

The Small Grants scheme from Lichfield District Council can help to fund a variety of events such as art projects or buying sport or play equipment.

Green Turtles Swimming Club was one of the groups the council awarded funding to last year. They received £400 which they used to pay for swimming lessons for disabled people. Lichfield and Tamworth Gate Way Club, a social club for people with learning difficulties, also received £200 for new equipment, and Lichfield City Cycling Club received £800, which they spent on new bikes for the club’s members.

Councillor Helen Fisher, Lichfield District Council’s Cabinet Member for Community Services, said:

“Over the last six years, our Small Grants scheme has helped lots of local groups to run a wide range of community services for our residents.

“We’re pleased to once again offer all local not-for-profit organisations based in Lichfield District, who provide a service to the local community, the opportunity to apply to our Small Grants scheme. The grant could be anything from £100 to buy new toys for a parent and toddler group or £1,000 to redecorate your headquarters. So, if your group could use a funding boost, and as long as you have a bank account in your group’s name, apply for a small grant today.”

The council is also reminding local groups that they could apply for a grant of up to £5,000 through Grant Aid Plus. This is the scheme that awards funding to local groups for projects that support the council’s priorities.

The deadline for all applications is 4pm on December 1. To find out more or to request a Small Grants or Grant Aid Plus application form, please call Stephen Lightfoot on 01543 308220, email [email protected] or download an application form from www.lichfielddc.gov.uk/grants.
