Lichfield Leisure Leagues football round-up

G Wanderers look set to clinch runners up spot in the Lichfield six-a-side Premier Division after they battled to a 2-1 victory over Hexis FC Marvels.

The Galacticos, who wrapped up the title last week, have clearly let their foot off the gas as they slipped to a 2-0 reverse against YM Athletic. Real Sosobad have left their fate in the hands of other results, despite getting a valuable point in a 1-1 draw with Bassetts Allsorts.

It is going to be a real nail biter in the First Division, with three teams in with a change of clinching the title. FC Licho could have been on top going in to the final day but came unstuck against Gumtree FC, where the deadlock couldn’t be broken in a goalless draw.

Leaders Clifton Rovers suffered a bigger blow however, as they were narrowly edged out by Barmy Army Tage, 1-0, who now sit just one point behind the table toppers themselves.

Mean Machine can still mathematically scrape runners up spot if results go their way, but any chance of claiming the title was extinguished as Matt Murcott starred for Hexis FC Legends in a narrow 1-0 win for the latter.

The top two both had narrow wins this week as the title Tuesday six-a-side league looks like going to the last week.

Monkey’s Punk stay at the head of things after beating strugglers Old Heads 1-0, while the same score was enough for Boley Park Academy to end Plough And Harrow’s challenge for the top two places.

At the other end of the table Banana Grove still have hope avoiding relegation after picking up a point in a 1-1 draw with Colin Lee’s Adopted Sons.

Things are just as tight in division one, with any two of five sides in the promotion race. Taste The Beast stay top of the table after seeing off Barmy Army Tage 5-1, while Family United FC are hanging on in second after the odd goal in three was enough to sneak past Dads Army.

England Youth are still very much in the equation after rattling in a nap hand against Norfolk N Chance – who despite the loss are in the hunt themselves.

Lichfield Crown are sitting on their own at the top of the Tuesday table – and are the only side to have won both games so far.

This week they hammered Pathetic Athletic 5-2 to stay a point clear of KED, who moved second after crushing Big Dawgs FC 4-0.

Elsewhere Bayern Neverlosin edged FC Lichfield 3-2, while Sporting cruised 2-0 against FC No Chance.
