“As the champagne flows on stage to celebrate the main character Mum’s wedding anniversary, we thought it would be a nice gesture to give an audience member a reason to celebrate too. “Members of the cast will be in Bore Street from 11am giving out promotional flyers offering £2 off all tickets for Wednesday and Thursday night shows. Tickets must be booked at the Garrick Box Office on November 21 to be eligible, and anyone taking advantage of the promotion will be entered into a draw for a bottle of bubbly.”Bill MacIlwraith’s black comedy explores the dynamics in a family where Mum definitely rules the roost. Ruthless and domineering, and with her own brand of charm, Mum uses any tactics to keep her three grown-up sons down at heel. But revolt is in the air as the family gather unwillingly for Mum’s ritual wedding anniversary party. One son plans to marry, another to emigrate and the third holds a guilty secret, but will they summon up the courage to confess all to Mum? The Lichfield Players’ production of The Anniversary runs at the Lichfield Garrick Theatre fromNovember 25 to 28 and from December 2 to 5. Ticket price is £9 (concessions £8 and £6). To book contact the Lichfield Garrick box office on 01543 412121 or visit www.lichfieldgarrick.com.
