Lichfield RUFC captain Dave Bassett is keen for his side to build on their 29-5 demolition of Lordswood Dixonians.

Despite a scoreless second period, the Myrtle Greens did the damage in a blistering first half – and in the process inflicted Lordswood’s biggest defeat of the season.

But with Wolverhampton and Shrewsbury bringing Lichfield’s league year to a close, Bassett is hoping his side will be able to enjoy a very happy new year.

The Lichfield skipper said:

“Although we were disappointed at not extending our lead in the second half, we can be heartened by the fact that we inflicted by far the biggest defeat of the season on our hosts.

“We played some of our best rugby to date this season in the first half, but we need to keep up this improvement against Wolverhampton and Shrewsbury.”

The Myrtle Greens tackle Wolverhampton on Saturday (December 12).
