Historical cookery experts cooked up a treat for the audience at Lichfield Garrick – including dignitaries from across the region.

Professor Roland Rotherham and Master Chef Simon Smith prepared festive treats in their annual Medieval Cookery Christmas special – and also launched their brand new historical cookbook Simmering Through the Ages at the theatre on December 7.

The performance also saw Councillor Joseph Powell, Chairman of Lichfield District Council, invite eight dignitaries from across the region to enjoy the performance.

Cllr Powell said:

“This was a fantastic evening. Everyone had the chance to meet the talented culinary duo and get their book signed. Thanks to the kind donations we raised £187.35 for my chosen charities – Young Carers in Lichfield and Rocklands School. It was especially great to see Simon Smith as we both attended the same college and it was good to see an old class colleague.”

Simmering Through the Ages is a collection of mouth-watering recipes from the annals of history, brought back to life by Professor Roland Rotherham, Lichfield’s very own culinary historian.
