Chasetown Ladies 5 Bradwell Belles 2

For both teams this was the first match in over a month and both did their league status justice by producing some excellent football as second placed Chasetown hosted third placed Bradwell Belles.

With both teams having only been beaten once so far this season, this was going to be an important game.

Chasetown must learn to start the match when the whistle goes because straight from the kick off Bradwell had them on the back foot. Three corners within the first ten minutes created some chaos in the Chasetown penalty area.

But it was Chasetown who took the lead in the 13th minute when there was a game of ping pong in the Bradwell box. Shot after shot went in until eventually Jodie Kinsey struck the ball into the net.

Two minute later Bradwell won yet another corner and the ball was swung into the box. A good header was cleared off the line by Charlotte Bull and Chasetown survived.

The Bradwell keeper was having an excellent game and she pulled off a fine save from a good header by Sinead Treanor following a pin-point cross from Kinsey.

Treanor then turned provider after she laid a neat through ball for Jade Arber to sprint into the box and strike a strong right footed shot past the keeper.

Bradwell came straight out of the blocks at the start of the second half. Two strong runs down the left had Chasetown in trouble. At the second attempt a cross-shot beat Becky Troth in goal to make it 2-1.

A turning point then arrived as Bradwell had a strong shout for a penalty following Nicci Barter’s strong challenge. The referee deemed the challenge to be fair and waved the penalty shouts away.

The next attack saw Chasetown extend their lead as a great chip over the full back saw Sarah Thompson race into space, look up and hit a perfect cross for the unmarked Treanor to finish.

Five minutes later Chasetown sealed the victory with a long through ball for Treanor to tuck the ball home.

Bradwell got a goal back on the break late on before Treanor completed her hat-trick in the 93rd minute following good work on the by-line by player of the match Arber.
