Lichfield Round Table are celebrating after their Christmas collections raised more than £10,000.

The group escorted Father Christmas around the streets of the city and surrounding villages in December collecting donations, with every penny going to local organisations and projects.

Despite the economic circumstances, a record total of £11,019.98 was raised and on January 13 a selection of charities attended a cheque presentation evening where a large portion of the funds raised was distributed ensuring the money collected goes straight to work for those who need it the most.

Chris Gill (Lichfield Round Table Press Officer) said:

“The annual Tableau run is one of the highlights of the calendar for members of the Round Table. Yes its hard work ensuring the float is looking good and making sure we visit as many streets as possible but it’s all worth while when we know so many children look forward to seeing Santa on his sleigh. The generosity of people in such uncertain times has pleasantly surprised us this year and we’d like to thank all those who donated.”

Organisations that were involved this year include Scotch Orchard School PTA, Friary School PTA, Lichfield Roundtable Football Club, 5th, 6th and 7th Lichfield Scouts, Rockland’s School & Riding for Disabled, Boley Park Pre-School & Toddler Group, Alrewas Scouts, Suzanne Rundle & Jane Fathers Cycle China appeal, Queens Croft School PTA, Lichfield Ladies Circle, Saxon Hill School, St Josephs School PTA, Lichfield 41 Club, Lichfield Air Cadets, Whittington Guides, Lichfield First Response and Lichfield Cricket Club.
