Historical cookery is returning to Lichfield thanks to another sumptuous menu of medieval culinary delights provided by Professor Roland Rotherham and Masterchef Simon Smith.
Their performances are a lighthearted journey through the history of our tastebuds, with Simon guiding the audience through preparation and Professor Rotherham adding a sprinkle of historical context.
Visitors will also be able to taste the finished products with recipe cards also available.
Among the joys on offer will be Roman delicacies such as herring and walnuts and hare in ale with anchovies.
Historical Cookery takes plce at the Lichfield Garrick on February 19 at noon. For tickets call the Lichfield Garrick box office on 01543 412121, or book online at www.lichfieldgarrick.com.
Fans of the Lichfield Garrick’s Historical Cookery demonstrations can now cook up some of their historical recipes thanks to Professor Roland Rotherham’s new cookbook, Simmering Through The Ages.
The cookbook provides a veritable feast of fabulous food and fascinating facts from as far back as the Pharaohs’ banquets of Ancient Egypt through to the decadent splendour of the Victorian tea table. You can buy a copy of Simmering Through The Ages at the Lichfield Garrick.
