Police are hoping that a teenage skateboarder could hold the vital clue to an attempted theft in Lichfield.

The youth – thought to be aged 15 or 16 – was with two others when a 63-year old man was stopped and asked for cash as he walked along an alleyway.

The incident happened shortly after 4.30pm on Sunday (February 14) as the man was walking in the alley which links Birmingham Road and Ivanhoe Road.

As the man walked near garages, one of the youths demanded cash – but all three fled when the 63-year old challenged them.

The youth who demanded the cash was white, aged around 16 years, 5ft 8ins tall, slim with dark hair. He was with a young man of similar age who was wearing a red hooded top and carrying a skateboard. He had long, light coloured hair.
