A second talk detailing the Staffordshire Hoard is to take place in Lichfield.

The new slot for Trusting the Ground with the Treasure of Warriors has been organised for 5pm on March 5 due to high interest in the original event.

The talk, by Hoard archaeologists Ian Wykes and Stephen Dean, features film footage from the Hoard dig.

Adrian Jackson, Artistic Director at the Lichfield Garrick said:

“As soon as the tickets went on sale for the first event, they were flying out the door! So, we have arranged a second session at 5pm to give as many people a chance to hear about the Hoard’s fascinating history.

“A number of people put their name down on a waiting list and we will be contacting them to offer them a chance to buy tickets at the new talk at 5pm. The remaining tickets will sell fast, so we would encourage people to book quickly to avoid disappointment.”

To book tickets for the new 5pm event, call the Lichfield Garrick box office on 01543 412121, or book online at Tickets cost £5 and all proceeds will go to fundraising to keep the Staffordshire Hoard in the region.

County Councillor Ben Adams, Staffordshire County Council’s Cabinet Member for Communities and Culture, added:

“We’re delighted that so many people are interested in finding out more about the Hoard, and we’re confident these events will help to boost the vital regional fundraising effort. If people don’t manage to get tickets for this new event time, a similar talk will take place at the Stafford Gatehouse Theatre on March 29.”

Tickets for the Stafford talk can be bought online at or over the phone on 01785 254653.
