A group of young musicians have been busy packing bags to raise money for a trip to Europe.

Students from Chasetown Specialist Sports College took part in the fundraising exercise at Morrisons supermarket in Burntwood.

The members of the school’s jazz band, concert band and choir are hoping to take part in a musical tour of the Netherlands in July.

The tour will see the 37 students and four members of staff based in the city of Valkenburg in the south of the country.

Michele Hargrave, Head of Music, said:

“We have a number of very talented musicians at the college and our ensembles frequently perform in public at college events and in the local community.  The concert tour, however, offers the unique experience of playing to unknown audiences in a foreign country, encouraging the students to aim for the highest of standards.

“We are very grateful to Morrisons for the warm welcome they have given us.”
