Agrovista UK Ltd director James Robertson with riders James MacWilliam, Graham Edwards and Simon Pretty
Lichfield will be the destination for six bike riders who are taking part in a charity cycle ride from Scotland. The six cyclists will be getting in the saddle in memory of former Lichfield RUFC stalwart Jimmy Greenhorn who died in October 2009 after a two year battle against cancer. One of the riders, Simon Pretty, said:
“Jim’s drive, enthusiasm and sense of humour had a huge impact on all of us that got to know him. He is sorely missed. This cycle ride is a way of us giving something back to those that cared for him through his illness.”
Simon will be joined by Jimmy’s former colleagues at Agrovista UK Ltd – Graham Edwards, Leon Jahae, Hazel Stockdale-Wright, Pippa Hutchinson and James MacWilliam – for the staged ride which begins in Scotland on June 15, before arriving in Lichfield on June 20. Simon added:
“Jim worked as an Agronomist for our company for over 35 years. In that time he built a strong following among the many farmers and growers in the Lichfield area. Rugby was his passion and he was a great servant to Lichfield RUFC.”
The ride will raise money for Cancer Research UK and St Giles Hospice. To make a donation visit
