Free event in Burntwood offers advice for carers

Carers who look after a friend or relative due to illness, disability or old age are being invited to a local information day.

The free event takes place on March 11 at Burntwood Scout Hut on Ironstone Road from 10am to 3pm.

Run by the Carers Association Southern Staffordshire (CASS), the event aims to give unpaid carers bite sized information sessions on Home First Aid and Lifting and Moving – key aspects of being a carer.

The day will also feature entertainment and complementary therapies as well as a fish and chip lunch.

The fish for information day is free to local family carers and has been supported by Staffordshire Local Community Fund.

Debbie Hill from CASS said:

“Caring can be an isolated role and one you don’t receive any training for. We are keen to support carers by offering these bite sized information sessions within the setting of a relaxed day with entertainment and therapies to give carers a break from their caring role.”

Carers who would like to attend the event can book their place by calling Debbie Hill on 01785 606675 or 07843 367145.
