Burntwood RUFC Development XV enjoyed their first win for a month after defeating an under-strength Birmingham Civil Service 2nds 36-0.

Grant Reynolds and Stuart Pearce started the game for the opposition and further swaps were arranged during the match.

Burntwood were ahead after 10 minutes when Kenny Adams broke from a ruck in the CS 22 to cross for a try.

Hal Gozukucuk  was the provider for the next two tries. First he broke and offloaded to Chris Preston and then did the same for Nick Peplow. Mark Bourne added both conversions.

At this point Anthony Sutton suffered a broken leg following a tackle and the match was temporarily halted to await the arrival of an ambulance.

When play resumed, Gareth Wedge finished off a bout of interpassing for the 4th try to make the half time score 24-0.

The fifth try came from Tom Restall following Simon Edwards’s No. 8 pick up and feed and Bourne was on target with the conversion. At this time more players were swapped around but there was still time for Edwards to score following a break by Craig Goodall on halfway.

There were fine performances by some of the youngsters on show including Peplow, Reynolds and Ben Poulton.
